Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Kpopranks ("we," "us") collects when you use the site, why, and how you can control it. Kpopranks is operated by Altlab LLC.
What we collect
- Account info: email address, username, and password when you sign up. Passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider (Supabase) and stored in hashed form - we never see or store your password in plain text.
- Content you create: the ranking lists, list names, and descriptions you make. Your primary list is public by default, so other people can view it. You can make any list private at any time, including your primary one.
- Nothing else, automatically: we don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the site today.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to keep you signed in.
- To operate core features: your rankings, and your primary list's contribution to the weekly site chart. Your primary list counts toward the chart whether it is public or private - making a list private hides the list from other people, it does not remove your picks from the chart.
- To send you transactional email - signup confirmation, password reset, username recovery, and email-change confirmation - via our email provider, Resend. We don't send marketing email.
Cookies and local storage
- A session cookie, set by Supabase, keeps you logged in. This is required for the site to function and isn't used for tracking.
- Your browser's local storage remembers whether you've dismissed the site announcement banner. This stays on your device and isn't sent to us.
Public content
If you set a list to public, its contents (list name, ranked artists, and your username) are visible to anyone with the link and appear on your public profile. Private lists are visible only to you.
Artist and chart data
Artist and group information (names, debut years, group type, and similar) comes from MusicBrainz, a public, community-maintained music database. Artist photos come from Wikimedia Commons, TheAudioDB, and Apple Music. This data describes public figures and public groups - it isn't personal data about you.

Kpopranks is provided for entertainment and informational purposes only. Artist and chart information is aggregated from third-party public sources and user-submitted rankings; we make no guarantees about its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Artist names and photos are used for identification and informational purposes under fair use and remain the property of their respective owners. Kpopranks is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any artist, group, agency, or the data providers referenced in this policy.
Third-party services we use
- Supabase - database, authentication, and account storage
- Vercel - website hosting
- Resend - transactional email delivery
Each of these providers processes data on our behalf under their own privacy and security practices.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account.
Children's privacy
Kpopranks is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top will always reflect the latest revision.
